1.7321

watched harold and kumar: escape from guantanamo bay today, and other than the couple of erm.. *hackhackcoughcoughcough* (sorry.. sore throat from the buffet at ben and jerry's today.. and yes.. i did have more than a couple of free cones.. =p) interesting scenes there.. what struck me was this...

The Square Root of 3 by Dave Feinberg
(in the movie's case it was by Kumar)

I’m sure that I will always be
A lonely number like root three

The three is all that’s good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight
Beneath the vicious square root sign,
I wish instead I were a nine

For nine could thwart this evil trick,
with just some quick arithmetic

I know I’ll never see the sun, as 1.7321
Such is my reality, a sad irrationality

When hark! What is this I see,
Another square root of a three

As quietly co-waltzing by,
Together now we multiply
To form a number we prefer,
Rejoicing as an integer

We break free from our mortal bonds
With the wave of magic wands

Our square root signs become unglued
Your love for me has been renewed

ok fine it's all cheesy and mushy and whatever..
but it's still a cool nerdy geeky genius of a poem!!

are you too???

A student at Eagle Rock Junior High won first prize at the Greater Idaho Falls Science Fair. He was attempting to show how conditioned we have become to alarmists practicing junk science and spreading fear of everything in our environment. In his project he urged people to sign a petition demanding strict control or total elimination of the chemical "dihydrogen monoxide."

And for plenty of good reasons, since:
-it can cause excessive sweating and vomiting
-it is a major component in acid rain
-it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state
-accidental inhalation can kill you
-it contributes to erosion
-it decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes
-it has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients He asked 50 people if they supported a ban of the chemical.

Forty-three (43) said yes,
Six (6) were undecided,
Only one (1) knew that the chemical really was. The title of his prize winning project was, "How Gullible Are We?"

He feels the conclusion is obvious.

sick....

A sick man turned to his doctor, as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said,
"Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side."

Very quietly, the doctor said, "I don't know."

"You don't know? You, a Christian man, do not know what is on the other side?"

The doctor was holding the handle of the door, on the other side came a sound of scratching and whining. As he opened the door,a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.

Turning to the patient, the doctor said, "Did you notice my dog? He's never been in this room before. He didn't know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear."

"I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing...

I know my Master is there and that is enough."

ok. so i'm not sick to that extent. but it's bad enough. spent the entire day in bed with a splitting headache and muscle aches all over.. so if i said anything incoherent, was snappish, or was just making plain random statements... you get what i mean... it feels as if i went for ippt, soc and then mass pt simultaneously..

it's so not a good time to fall sick. i've got loads of better things to do...

aniwaes, it's pretty reassuring to know what's on the other side of life, considering that, to a pessimist (of which we all are at some point, or not at all in the best of circumstances), life's a disease that we all eventually die of. why such thoughts? spent the whole day reading regina's song, by david and leigh eddings. i won't however, divulge the content here, lest i spoil your experience. it's a good read, and i daresay i've read it at least 4 times.. since sec 4...

back to bed for me. hopefully all will be fine after a good night's rest.

it wasn't me...

if you'll take a look at the tagboard for the tag's on 4th april, it wasn't me there (in case you haven't already realised, april fool's over, so this ain't a joke). i've a certain friend apparently down with multiple-personality disorder. =p aniwaes.. here's something to liven this up.. or maybe not...
