don't stay in bed, unless you can make money in bed...

nono.. i don't mean the other connotation of the statement above (if you get what i mean, but if you're blur and you don't realise it, then nevermind).. but really... maybe i should enter politics, specifically be the minister of transport or sth.. those guys can really make money in bed.

how? increase erp, build more gantries, raise taxi fare, release less coe so prices go up.. so simple huh?

and now they're going to add another 4 gantries at my doorstep, in addition to the one already there, and no way to bypass them, esp the frigging one at ikea. sadist b45+4rds... i have to pay tribute to the gahmen just to be able to GO HOME!!!

don't birds just love cars?

its official. i hate birds. unless they're my dinner.

man when i was done with work i walked over to my car and i was like.. wow! that's a whole bucketful of crap. my whole car was literally covered with a shitload.. lol..

to the point that i was even embarassed to drive around.

next time someone says, 'for the birds', he'd better be throwing a hand grenade...

wherever you go, no matter the weather, always bring your own sunshine...

i wish i could.

why must it always rain on sunday afternoons and never anytime else? everytime we set off it just suddenly starts pouring. and then when it's dry and we finally set off, i get a puncture. already i've burst three tubes in 2 rides... but at least we found the culprit.. 2 small pieces of metal stuck in my tire poking my tubes..

hopefully next sunday's ride'd be better. with sunshine.

If everything was perfect, there would be nothing to learn, nothing to love, nothing to live for.

you know, sometimes i wonder why out teachers put up with all the crap we give them, the lack of all due respect, the attention, the high blood pressure...

today i got the answer, or yesterday rather, since it's past midnight already..

its all the fufilling moments that makes you want to go further, that you've inspired someone's life, and perhaps even changed it forever...

its the fun times and sad times, the highs and lows that you go through together, and yet there's always that silver lining...

i guess i was really unlucky the past few days having gotten the N(T) and N(A) classes the few other times i was called back... im just not at that level of zainess to be able to leave my indelible mark on them yet...

however, i had the chance to take one of the better classes today (or yesterday rather) . it didn't matter that they tried *abeit futile* attempt to keng during higher chinese. it didn't matter that they were doing work from other subjects during curiculum time. it didn't matter that they came in like 15 minutes late and still sauntering around in groups (but that was thanks to the history teacher).

what mattered was their willingness to learn, to ask the right questions, to have the right heart and mindset.

that's what makes teaching so rewarding.

thank you fmss 4e '08.

No one dies a virgin, Life screws us all.

ok.. so the quote above isn't the most appropriate of all, but it kinda describes how my day went... lol..

went to school expecting a nice day of relief teaching and what do i get? two N(T) classes and two express classes, one of them for CHINESE! of all subjects...

turns out a lot of teachers were on course today...

the first class was 3I. they had boys wearing a shirt then a sweater on top of their school uniform. are they not hot enough? there're some people who genuinely want to learn there, but their classmates sure aren't helping... furthermore, there were those girls who kept trying to siam class. the ask to go to the toilet and never come back. but can they like to it TACTICALLY? i practically saw them sauntering all the way upstairs man...

then came 1I. oh man.. it dosen't take a genius to wonder why there're there. they cant find word for word answers in the textbook. spent half the period running up and down looking for their bloody workbooks. and they were in the science lab. of all places. they had lookouts to see when i was coming, and if the class was already so noisy when i went in, who knows how noisy it was before then?? ms yow who happened to stroll pass had to give a good one to them. poor kids.. but they were ok after they started work. somewhat.

4B was the only managable class. lol.. they did make noise but it was still reasonable. at least they handed in their work. i hope. one guy got sick after my lesson and had to go home. am i that bad???

and the grand finale. 2C. my old class from ages past. they're even worse than 1I! and dare i say worse than my batch with all the 'misadventures' that we had... they came in sauntering late to class more than 15 minutes late. the i had to scream at them the whole period as they were making way too much noise. everytime i turn off the lights and scream at them the volume drops. then when the lights go on they turn on again. are they photoreceptive or what? by the end of the lesson they were bouncing on each other's laps, doing geek impersonations, sleeping, and oh, another person had a headache... *really??*

choir was, again bad. limah threatened them with her not going to tour with them. i mean, which batch DOSEN'T want to go on tour? mine was the unfortunate one with only one tour lor... treasure it man... and their sound, frankly.. sucks. mrs wilson and tay would flip on the spot and get a haemorrage or sth..

kids these days.. crazy. uncontrollable. and the worst is that they dunt even know how to keng to an acceptable level!! to be undetected! they should all go for army before they go for sec school. at least they'd learn the 8th core value.

you get more with a kind word and a gun than just a kind word...

haven't been blogging in a while cz too lazy.. duh?

the past few days have been a bore and a blur.. boring cz of the monotonous data entry, and a blur cz of the crap and lame jokes spouted out during random moments.. on the bright side, the weekend's finally here! and the world's most boringest job has met its end.. muahaha..

they even tried getting us (me, ray, wx, owen and issac) to extend our stay but we were like nooooo... we got other jobs lined up already (but that could be easily changed with double pay)... yupp.. sleeping and stoning are tough jobs indeed man! haha... and we have a date with the bed that's been calling out all week... sleep... sleep... sleep... zzzzzz....

it's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt...

something stupid happened to me today. the ppl at fmss wanted me to teach chinese... luckily they woke up their idea of letting me mould the future of the nation with my excellent standards of chinese, or lack thereof, before i had to tell them to look through my results certs for a chinese result... lol..

oh.. and weixiang cooks so very well... his cheese cake on sun and pasta on sat were excellent! haha.. you need to feed us at school man.. haha..

as the days go by...

i'm getting more and more tired each day. maybe its because of the boring repetitive brainless work i've been doing.. but hey, i need the money.. haha.. =p

today i had quite a great tuition session with the twins! they actually remembered the stuff i taught them, to the extent than nicson managed to rattle off by rote ALL the points for what happens when a liquid changes to gas! even with the kinetic theory thingie that i cant remember.. lol.. things like this make teaching fufilling.. i guess that's why so many people end up getting married to the school...

21... and counting...

i've reached 21. i feel so old. dunt really know what's really the big deal about reaching so significant an age? is it your passage into adulthood (then what was the purpose of army...)? your ability to vote, and see r21 movies and the like? can somebody like please explain it to me? haha.. such a sad life i lead right? lol... cz honestly, i liked my teens... and i guess its another step in a new chapter in life and its human nature to try to resist change. i dunno..

cheryl sent me a very interesting message about how i used to vandalise her school diary (for more details, ask her yourself...) and ended off with hoping that i'm not so childish anymore.. i do hope so too.. that i've matured at least a little bit through my two plus decades on this earth..

oh man i feel so old...

and on an end note, the tiramisu cake from jack's place is not bad!!! :P

ribbed at cartel...

today came as much of a surprise, not that work was a surprise aniwaes.. it was boring as usual, and i've proceeded on from the easy cataloguing to the retarded and extremely boring and 'zhor tang' manual cataloguing, for those idiotic items that don't happen to have been updated in the system or don't even have barcodes!!! i bet i took more than half the time i was supposed to work taking 'tactical' breaks..

but back to the topic at hand.. haha.. had a message from daniel goh asking me when i was free during the week to go out.. as you prolly alr know, im not exactly free this week, having work, with ses prac, tuition with the twins and youth worship prac respectively on wed, thurs and fri.. so tonight happened to be my only free night.. so we met up for dinner at cafe cartel (yes josh.. i know your qualms about the olive oil and the vinegar they serve) and we had a fantastic dinner of st louis pork ribs and a great time catching up, ! haha..

i'm like kinda sleepy from all the mundane work i did at school so i'll just cut it kinda short..

aniwaes, thanks daniel for such a great evening! we should meet up more often! and we will, especially in uni, since by God's grace we ended up doing the same course in the same school.. =D

unexpected...

reported to school today at 9am for the data entry thingie.. expecting to do some well, data entry.. haha.. but got a pleasant surprise by mr ganesan who asked me to take a class today!! woohoo! that means i earn 20 bucks more today for two hours less work! haha.. but tmr onwards will prolly be back to the mundane world of data entry...

im supposed to be cataloguing the stuff in the av resource room, registering the new books and sticking the barcodes on them, not exactly what i had in mind... apparently there were supposed to be five of us in the same room entering the sec 1's data into the system, but then mr omar came with 4 laptops (and might i mention that they're all tablets! woohoo! can pokepokepoke), and then ms mano said that they had not enough accounts for us to login into, so to make a long story short, ray and issac ended up entering the data, wx was the shredder commando, and owen was doing filing... typically what happens at s1 branch on a daily basis, just with different people, and more importantly, higher pay! haha..

let's just hope i get to teach another class tomorrow! heh..

jacks...

went to the new jack's place down at the freshly refurbished anchorpoint for dinner today.. was supposed to be my birthday dinner.. but frankly, though i was kinda satiated after the meal, it seems as if the quality of food at jack's placed has turned for the worse... or could it be just the branch or something to do with anchorpoint's food? cz i know that the kfc there's one of the worst that i've ever been to too, the old one that is.. haven't the new renovated one as yet..

the garlic bread and lobster bisque were great as usual.. but what really messed up the meal was the main course, which i, as usual, ordered the mixed grill set...

firstly, i asked for medium done beef, cz i like my moomoo juicy and slightly bloody.. lol.. what came was this thin dried piece of jerky.. then the bacon.. have you ever heard of low fat bacon? seems like jack's place has perfected it.. who ever eats bacon without the rind (unless you're supremely health conscious of course)? it seemed as though they sliced a piece of luncheon meat super thin and fried it till crispy... though it didn't taste like luncheon meat... the chicken was how my triathlete friends like it.. bland, overcooked and tasteless.. i had to heap a mound of salt to even get it palatable.. and the lamb.. was how i like my beef cooked...

needless to say, i didn't enjoy the main course...

i'd go for seconds on the soup, garlic bread and the dessert (which was a melt in your mouth apple crumble) though...

...i believe...

what do you usually think of when you see the phrase 'i believe'?

i guess most of us would immediately think of tata young's hit 'i believe', or r kelly's 'i believe i can fly' or some other song like that.. but what does it really mean?

at today's sermon ps daniel challenged us with those two simple words, asking us what does it really mean to declare 'i believe'?

i'll leave it to those who haven't heard the sermon to go ponder about it, because inside those two simple words lies a simple yet very powerful meaning..

on hindsight, it'd go very well as a prelude to doc john's transform embody and shine series, challenging us to think and go back to the very fundementals of faith and what we believe in, as well as to apply appreciate it.

what do you believe in?

1st day at work...

today was my first day at work... and guess what? i was told that i had the job today cz there was some admin messup (to put it nicely) and i didn't have to come tomorrow... doh!

aniwaes, i still taught one class, who were rather rowdy.. still in the holiday mood i guess.. and i didn't know that fmss started offering double science for bio/chem! lol.. would've been a nice combi to take.. haha.. aniwaes, gave them a worksheet from their mdm toh where they were supposed to fill up their problem spots in mathematics and how they could improve it, as well as another worksheet on indices... it's amazing how much one can forget in such a short period of time, both for me and them.. then they tried finding out my age, to which i replied for them to find out how old the learning@work algebraic poster (which to my horror still existed and was sitting in the classroom) was and add it to when i was 15.. haha..

ended up doing much sk during the day also, but well paid sk as compared to army, so no compliants there =p... packed up the entire maths dept cupboard and condemned a whole load of old books ranging from even the '80s which my ma prolly used during her days there.. ended up sweaty and stick and smelly after that but seriously, no complaints! haha..

even though like most of the teachers i knew have more or less retired, at least ganesan and ms thio and mrs choe were there.. the new chers are kinda friendly also lah.. and at least kaiwei's there so there's someone my age to catch up with and exchange endless army stories.. haha..

also met up with geri and matt at geri's place and they had so many interesting stories about the youth leader's retreat, then went with matt and ma to visit aunt LL, who just got discharged today.. from the looks of her xray it was quite a serious break of the 5th metatarsal, quite a messy snap indeed.. its a wonder that she could actually continue walking after the injury! and we all thought it was a simple sprain...

aniwaes, going to spend my next two weeks doing data entry.. wonder how that'll work out... at least will have ray with me there.. haha.. anione else looking for a temp job? tell me by tonight... i have to get back to mdm ng tmr morn.. there's quite a few spots so if you're just looking for work to eat time, this should be the perfect opportunity... haha...

Wednesday, January 2, 2008, 23:52
i'm employed! well, kind of...

yay!! i got called up for relief teaching! that's a relief! haha.. it means i'll actually be getting some semblance of an income for this month and next, though it's lots better than what i've been getting in army... lol.. i needa save up some money for uni though...

i'm feeling rather apprehensive about it though, cz i dunno what to expect, never having had relief teached before.. i don't know whether i should be teaching anything these two short days or simply telling the class to take out their books and read silently... or should i bring them some sudoku or something.. moreover it's just the second day of school right? what if i'm taking the class for their first lesson in a subject? should i even be laying the foundation for their opinions and thoughts on the subject? i feel so underqualified... oh well, guess i'll just get them to join in the sec 1 orientation lah.. maybe i'll be lucky and even get a sec 1 class... haha..

hope i'll be able to wake up on time tomorrow...

Tuesday, January 1, 2008, 17:41
a new chapter

whew... i'm so tired from last night's at evan's from playing guitar hero, chatting and eating through the night. got home at 0630 in the morning and promptly crashed in bed. better to crash after driving back then during i guess. duh.

was fun though. i didn't expect to stay the whole night but i still did, and extremely funny how josh thought service starts at 2200 and how he ended waiting at the doorstep for us to reach just before midnight.. haha.. and i didn't expect so many ppl to be there also.. lol..

aniwaes, a new year has just begun, and im embarking on a new chapter of my life, having closed the last one with the collection of my now extremely treasured pink i/c. in fact, starting on 2 chapters this year, cz i'll be starting uni later in the year, of which i've totally no idea what to expect...

someone, enlighten me. please.
